I Am Trapped In Google's SEO Black Hole.
And I can't get up.
By Dan Keating

There have been 1000's of Forum posts about this subject and probably 100's of articles. Most of the "SEO Experts" I have read say there isn't a sandbox. Some say maybe, a few say yes. I do not know if Matt Cutts the Google engineer of spam and the un-official spokesman on these subjects has ever said. I can find no record of it.  However, I am in something, sandbox, blackhole whatever, I will take any help I can get.

Since Google won't say then it must be just an individual's webmasters perception. For those of us who have been trapped in this black hole of the Google Universe it is very real. And no matter how hard I try I can't get up.

Further I have two sister sites both of which rank well in Google in most key words. Sister sites are similar in design with different actual content. See below.

They exist to keep us in a holding pattern where we don't act or do anything to better ourselves. They keep us stagnated and stifled. They cause us to sabotage our good.

ANTs are pre-conscious thoughts, beliefs, ideas that keep us trapped in our comfort zone. They exist to stop us from moving to far ahead of our current environment. They cause us to become uncomfortable with our potential and possibility.

They exist to keep us in a holding pattern where we don't act or do anything to better ourselves. They keep us stagnated and stifled. They cause us to sabotage our good.

I know what the questions will be right off. Do I have any hidden text. The answer no. The second question duplicate content. The answer is no. Do I have spam. The answer, not to my knowledge. Do I have good relevant content. Answer yes, I think so. Do I have relevant links. The answer yes some for over two years none ever recognized by Google. My links pages are on my index page. Many linked sites have Google  number #1 in their categories. I have other web sites some ranked very high in Google.

Web site facts.

URL: www.aboutftcollins.com
Site Age 2 years
Indexed in Google, Yes 214 pages.
Page rank 3/10
Google links now 15 reduced from 21 after Jan 27 Google Bomb update.
Top 14 other search engines. 15 key words. 120 first page rankings.
Google First 6 page rankings 0

Sister site www.aboutloveland.com
Site age 2 years.
Indexed in Google. Yes Number 244
Page Rank 3/10 Google links now 10 Reduced from 17 by Google Bomb.
Top 15 search engines. 15 key words. 139 first page rankings.
Google First Page Rankings 5

Now the hard part of the analysis. The competition. Fort Collins does have more competition as a whole. I have always thought the search engines were supposed to be improving and giving us better relevance in search phrase. Again this is I suppose is perception. However, I believe in the last 365 days both Google and MSN have dropped off considerably. MSN's lasts big algo change completely ruined their relevance in my experience. Google goes up and down. In my experience Yahoo is by far the most relevant. Now I realize if your site is ranked number one you probably feel that particular search engine is relevant. As well you might even if untrue. I do have other web sites and many have number 1 rankings and first page rankings in Google.

The big dilemma is why the one below just isn't there when the analysis shows it should be. I treat all my web sites fairly well the same. When one gets a number one ranking I figure I am doing something right so I tend to do the same thing across the spectrum. I try to add content to one or more of my web sites everyday sometimes yes sometimes no. The same thing for links.

So now I will give you one example. I do not require a number 1 ranking when it is not justified. In this case I am torn but I am always happy with page #1 which I believe the research finds is a shoo in..
Search term Ft Collins Movies My Movies page www.aboutftcollins.com/movies.htm is a page within my web site. It shows all movies, theaters and show times on page. Main page PR 3 Movies PR 2. Google links 15 to main page. My software shows All The web giving my movies page 139 links 15 for Google which is a carry over from main page.
Competitor ranked # 1 PR 4 - Google links 3. Age Over 5 years. Shows all theaters times etc
Competitor ranked #2 PR 4 Is a theater shows there movies and show times.
Competitor Ranked #3 PR 2 has links to all theaters and showtimes. 633 Google links to main page.
Competitor Ranked#4 PR 0 Chamber of Commerce Not a movie site linked back to #1
Competitor Ranked #5&6 PR 2 This is not a movie site but a movie fan club. No movies.
Competitor Ranked #6 PR 0 Home page of local newspaper. No movie link s.
Competitor Ranked #7 PR 0 A link directory no movies and no links to movies.
Competitor Ranked #8 PR 0 link and ad directory no local movie links.
Competitor Ranked #9 Yahoo local does have links to Movie theaters reviews no movies.

My relevancy analysis shows I should rank number three for Ft Collins Movies. Instead I rank 71. This is the highest rank obtained by any in this web site. It is assumed the visitor is looking for movie descriptions, theaters, reviews, times, directions etc. There are only three sites offering that one of them mine. This movie page was number 1 in Google about 20 months ago for about a month before I was sucked into the black hole where light does not shine.

www.aboutloveland.com/movies.htm is number 3 in Google.
It is number 1 at www.aboutgreeley.com/movies.htm

I have written this for two reasons. 1.) I am hoping some genius comes up with a solution and 2.) It is real information that is happening in the search marketplace. This happening influences a lot of small and medium sized webmasters.
